Intuitive IAATO Expedition App for Antarctica Exploration

CHALLENGE

Our partner, IAATO, came to us with a challenge. They needed to provide travelers and field staff with fast, reliable access to environmental protocols in one of the most remote places on Earth.

Their guidelines, ranging from species protection to site-specific landing limits, are essential for preserving Antarctica’s fragile ecosystem. However, the format made them challenging to use in the field and nearly impossible to access without an internet connection. That’s a serious problem in a place where connections are rare.

SOLUTION

We collaborated with IAATO to develop a mobile app that facilitates prompt action, even in challenging conditions. Our team focused on creating a clean, simple UX that helps people find what they need quickly and feel comfortable using the app from the outset.

We delivered:

a tag-based layout that makes content easy to navigate

The option to mark Favorites for quick access to key documents

complete offline access so people can stay informed anywhere

IMPACT

While we focused on utility, we also followed a meaningful mission. The app helps people understand the broader context behind IAATO’s work and why it matters.

People can learn about the importance of each site, explore the surrounding environment, and get involved in conservation efforts.

By transforming detailed protocols into clear and approachable guidelines, we helped IAATO make responsible travel easier and more impactful for everyone heading to the White Continent.
